Solo

My eight-photograph series explores being alone in a crowd through 35mm film. Just me and my thoughts in a room full of people. I wanted to express how I want to talk, to be social, to just be there with others. However, there are moments when I am with others yet feel so alone. As if I am the odd one out of the group.

Solo by definition means done by one person, alone, unaccompanied. That is how I felt when creating and curating these photographs. It feels liberating to make a decision for yourself. It also feels lonely that you are also by yourself when making it. There are times to thrive in the time for yourself. But, there are also times that it feels like the world is crowding around you and no one is there to help you. Experiencing both sensations is typical. It’s normal to be alone. To go solo.
